Valve Positioning Monitoring

AI Model Overview

InFlightAI's Valve Positioning Monitoring model uses computer vision AI to determine valve position states (open, closed, partially open) across industrial systems. It supports remote verification of operational status and helps prevent process disruptions or safety incidents.

The valve is detected, then handle or actuator position is measured as a precise angle and classified as open, closed, or partially open, each with a confidence score. Configuration during onboarding covers the valve types at your site.

Valve position is confirmed remotely, including the partially open states a binary check misses. When a reading doesn't match the expected position or falls below a confidence threshold, the model flags it as an anomalous state rather than reporting an uncertain read as confirmed, surfacing the timestamped, annotated image for a person to check before anyone acts on it. A valve left in the wrong position is caught before it disrupts the process.

How It Works

Valve Positioning Monitoring returns bounding box output along with a measured valve angle and confidence score. It identifies open, closed and partially open valve states, and flags a detection as anomalous when the reading doesn't clearly resolve to one of those states.

Valve Positioning Monitoring is an asset maintenance model, currently deployed across industries like Electric Utilities, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Logistics, Power Generation, Nuclear and Mining. Detections are returned after the flight has landed, once imagery and waypoint data have been synced to the platform, each tagged with its capture timestamp and asset identifier. The model is configured to the assets and environments at your site during onboarding, and is ready for use within thirty days.
